Good morning, Pike County. Healthcare leadership is staying close to home as Pike County native Andrew Bauer prepares to take the helm at Adena Pike Medical Center. The Western High School graduate will build upon a decade of expanded services that now bring nearly 20 specialists to local patients. It's a powerful reminder that sometimes the most qualified people to lead our community institutions are those who've walked our streets and understand our unique healthcare needs.
From medical advances to educational support, local organizations continue investing in Pike County's future. Fluor-BWXT's $3,500 donation to Waverly's COPE program will help students overcome life obstacles with resources for interview clothes and skills training. Meanwhile, on the diamond, Piketon Lady Redstreaks are dominating with their impressive 12-1 SVC softball record, with sophomore Aubrey Heath earning well-deserved "Player of the Year" honors. Excellence, it seems, runs through every aspect of our community.

Andrew Bauer will become the senior operations executive officer and regional vice president starting September 1, succeeding retiring leader Dave Zanni. Currently serving as director of operations, Bauer aims to build upon Zanni's decade-long legacy of expanding services and upgrading facilities in the region. Under their leadership, the medical center now hosts nearly 20 rotating specialists in various fields including cardiology, behavioral health, and obstetrics. Bauer, a Western High School graduate who lives in Piketon with his family, expressed commitment to further expanding specialty care access throughout Pike County and beyond.
🏫 Fluor-BWXT invests $3,500 to help Waverly students overcome life obstacles. The donation supports the Community Outreach and Parent Engagement (COPE) program, which connects students and families with essential resources like food, clothing, and housing assistance. Launched five years ago, COPE aims to address non-academic challenges that can impact students' classroom performance and future prospects. The funds will specifically help purchase interview clothes, transportation for skills training, and graduation expenses. "Breaking the cycle of poverty is a tall task, but we have been able to make a difference," said COPE Director Brack Montgomery.
