🚧 Detour dilemma

Good morning, Pike County. The orange cones and "Road Closed" signs are multiplying across Scioto County faster than spring dandelions. From Junior Furnace-Powellsville Road to Pond Run, a maze of closures and restrictions awaits drivers this week as county crews tackle everything from slips to berming operations. If your daily commute includes any of these routes, you might want to leave a few minutes earlierβ€”or perhaps invest in that all-terrain vehicle you've been eyeing.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth's renaissance continues one volunteer hour at a time, thanks to local power couple Tanner and Sydney Hatcher. From Tanner's record-breaking $61,000 in Boy Scout popcorn sales at age 16 to Sydney's transition from nursing to community leadership, they exemplify the next generation reshaping the region. And for sports enthusiasts, local volleyball rivals Chillicothe and Unioto recently delivered an athletic showdown that highlighted the growing popularity of boys volleyball throughout our area.

Clinton Furnace Road and Feurt Hill Road remain closed until further notice, while contractor work will shut down Pond Run for approximately 90 days and Hayport Road for two weeks. County crews will be conducting berming operations with flaggers maintaining traffic on various roads throughout the week.
