Good morning, Pike County. Southern Ohio has become a coaching powerhouse as three local basketball mentors claimed prestigious state honors this season. Portsmouth's Amy Hughes led her team to a state championship, while Unioto's Matt Combs and Minford's Josh Shoemaker dominated their divisions with impressive records. The coaching excellence extends to volleyball too, where Chillicothe's squad improved to a remarkable 12-1 record after Thursday's decisive three-set sweep over Whetstone, showcasing clutch serving and resilient comebacks.

Meanwhile, the Scioto County legal system has been busy with the grand jury returning 20 public indictments earlier this month. The charges span a concerning spectrum from theft and felonious assault to drug trafficking, with defendants hailing from multiple states including Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Several individuals face particularly serious charges related to fentanyl offenses and illegal conveyance of drugs into governmental facilities.
