🚧 Detour dilemma

Good morning, Pike County. April showers aren't the only thing causing detours this month—Highland County's roadways are undergoing significant transformation with multiple construction projects. A culvert replacement on State Route 785 has created a full closure until April 16, while a more extensive pedestrian safety improvement in Hillsboro has shut down eastbound lanes on East Main Street for what will be a year-long project. Remember to pack your patience along with your umbrella as you navigate these temporary inconveniences.

Flash back to 1969, when "Dialing for Dollars" brought television magic to Chillicothe! The popular Channel 6 Columbus show captured the essence of local life with host Gene Fullen and crew filming at Mount Logan, Mound City, and various community landmarks. The production team even broke bread with local dignitaries at the Holiday Inn before showcasing our region's charm to viewers across central Ohio—a colorful time capsule of our community's past that reminds us how we've long been worth the spotlight.

Meanwhile, a larger pedestrian safety improvement project in Hillsboro has closed all eastbound lanes of East Main Street between North/South East Street and North/South High Street. This larger project will continue until spring 2025, with traffic being detoured via North High Street to East Beech Street to North East Street.
