🌪️ Storm season prep

Pike County • March 20, 2025

Good morning, Pike County. Mother Nature's spring playbook is about to be on full display as Scioto County prepares for severe weather season with coordinated drills this week. Wednesday's statewide test of emergency systems serves as a timely reminder that while winter's snow may be behind us, the Ohio River Valley's notorious spring storms and flooding require community-wide readiness. Officials are urging residents to develop emergency plans now, rather than scrambling when sirens sound for real.

Meanwhile, a bizarre incident unfolded at the New Boston police station when Wheelersburg resident Kaleb Ruth allegedly attacked an officer and attempted to steal a vehicle from the parking lot. The chaotic scene ended with a bystander helping subdue Ruth while the injured officer received medical treatment. Ruth now faces multiple serious charges including felonious assault and awaits his April 11 pretrial hearing from behind bars at Scioto County Jail.
