Good morning, Pickaway County. Sometimes extraordinary talent flourishes right in our own backyard. Dr. Hafeez Hassan has put Pickaway County on the global medical map, earning a spot on the prestigious "30 in Their 30s" cardiology list at just 30 years old. Since bringing his expertise from Mount Sinai to southern Ohio in 2021, he's performed over 500 life-saving procedures annually, proving world-class healthcare doesn't require a big-city address.

While Columbus leads the Midwest in apartment construction with nearly 6,000 new units on the horizon, not all local business news is positive. Two food trucks on North High Street—Galaxy Coffee and Los Agavez Taqueria—faced weekend break-ins, with thieves making off with cash, equipment, and even kitchen knives. Despite the setback, Galaxy Coffee, Columbus' first queer-owned coffee truck, demonstrated remarkable resilience by reopening the very same day.

❤️ Rural Ohio doctor joins elite global cardiology list at just 30. Dr. Hafeez Hassan of Adena Heart and Vascular Institute was named to the prestigious "30 in Their 30s" by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions. After training at top institutions like Mount Sinai, he brought advanced cardiac care to southern Ohio in 2021, performing over 500 procedures annually and launching a critical pulmonary embolism program. Patients praise his life-saving interventions, with one calling him "the best doctor in the world" after surviving a massive heart attack. Dr. Hassan remains committed to his mission: providing advanced heart care close to home so rural patients don't need to travel hours for life-saving treatment.

🏙️ Columbus builds more apartments than any Midwest city. The Columbus metropolitan area is set to add nearly 6,000 new apartment units by the end of 2025, leading the Midwest in construction. While ranking 21st nationally, Columbus outpaces other Midwest cities with 71% of new units being built within city limits rather than suburbs. This construction boom comes despite a national slowdown in apartment development, with the U.S. expected to complete 506,000 units this year—down significantly from 2024's record of 640,000. Industry experts cite tariffs, deportations, high material costs, and labor shortages as factors in the nationwide decline.

🚚 Two food trucks robbed in Columbus over the weekend. Galaxy Coffee and Los Agavez Taqueria were burglarized while parked on North High Street between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Thieves stole cash from both trucks, with Galaxy Coffee losing their $300 POS system till and Los Agavez losing money and several knives. Despite the setback, Galaxy Coffee—Columbus' first queer-owned coffee truck—reopened for business later that same Sunday. The trucks are typically parked just a block apart in the North High Street area.
