Good morning, Pickaway County. You might be walking past a small fortune without even knowing it. Ohio fairgoers recently discovered an astonishing $633,000 in forgotten money at the state fair's unclaimed funds kiosk, with one lucky individual starting a claim for more than $60,000. These financial surprises, averaging $527 per claim, represent everything from dormant accounts to uncashed checks that have been waiting for their rightful owners.
While some residents are finding unexpected windfalls, Circleville's Ted Lewis Park continues its remarkable transformation despite financial hurdles. Having already raised $600,000 for improvements like LED lighting and basketball courts, the park now needs an additional $200,000 to complete its vision. Meanwhile, fantasy adventure enthusiasts can mark their calendars for September 16, when "Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert" brings its 20th anniversary celebration to Columbus's Palace Theatre, complete with a live orchestra performing the Emmy-winning score.

💰 Ohioans discover $633,000 in forgotten money at state fair. Over 1,200 fairgoers initiated claims for unclaimed funds at the Ohio Department of Commerce kiosk, with one individual starting a claim for more than $60,000. The average claim amount was $527.35, with funds coming from dormant accounts, uncashed checks, and forgotten utility deposits. Division Superintendent Akil Hardy called the fair "a real opportunity to help people," noting the division has returned more than $1.6 million to Ohioans during the fair over the past four years.
🏞️ Historic Ohio park needs $200,000 to complete revitalization project. The Friends of Ted Lewis Park in Circleville have raised $600,000 so far, funding new LED lighting and basketball courts with plans for rebuilt dugouts. While construction bids for a new shelter house came in at over $800,000, the group currently has only $400,000 available for this feature. Despite funding challenges, the park has successfully launched a "Movies in the Park" series and installed security cameras, with significant support from local businesses, volunteers, and donors contributing amounts from $5 to $10,000+.
