Good morning, Pickaway County. Hollywood's spotlight has found its way to Columbus's culinary scene, where British actor Will Poulter became so smitten with Hoyo's Kitchen that he treated his entire film crew to the Somali restaurant's bold flavors on their final day of production. The actor's Instagram endorsement of this North Market gem, whose name translates to "mother" in Somali, is bringing well-deserved national attention to a local favorite that's been delighting Columbus diners since 2014.

In less appetizing news, the legal system is serving up its own dish of accountability. Columbus has joined a lawsuit challenging federal funding cuts to so-called "sanctuary cities," with over $11 million in grants for essential services hanging in the balance. Closer to home, 79-year-old township trustee James Fox faces felony charges after allegedly using township resources to address flooding at his son's property—a misuse that came to light when Fox himself mentioned it during a public meeting in March.

⚖️ Columbus fights Trump's sanctuary city funding cuts. The Ohio capital joined a lawsuit against the Trump administration for illegally withholding federal money from so-called "sanctuary cities." Despite never declaring itself a sanctuary city, Columbus was included on a list of cities targeted for funding cuts. Mayor Andrew Ginther emphasized that Columbus complies with all laws while protecting residents. The city risks losing over $11 million in grants for crime reduction, domestic violence support, addiction services, and counterterrorism if the administration's actions stand.
