🏭 Ohio grants record $310 million to defense manufacturer Anduril. The company will build "Arsenal-1," a massive plant near Rickenbacker International Airport in Pickaway County, creating over 4,000 jobs with an average salary exceeding $132,000. This represents the largest job creation project in Ohio's history, with Anduril investing at least $910.5 million in the facility. The grant, payable over a decade, requires Anduril to maintain its commitments for 30 years total. The company has strong ties to the Air Force and is developing autonomous combat aircraft technology.
🧗♀️ National Geographic puts Columbus on the adventure map. The renowned publication traveled to Quarry Trails Metro Park to film America's only urban via ferrata climbing route. Travel journalist Stephanie Vermillion visited on June 12, capturing footage for National Geographic's social media. Metro Parks spokesperson Jill Snyder called the feature "a major feather in the cap" for Columbus parks. Earlier this year, National Geographic had already highlighted the Columbus attraction in a story about via ferratas across the country.
🚌 Teen gang terrorizes COTA bus passengers in Columbus. Columbus police are searching for five teenagers involved in multiple assaults and disturbances on city buses. In a June 24 incident, the suspects punched a passenger in the face and body, leaving the victim bloodied and dazed before fleeing the scene. Police have released photos of the suspects connected to the attacks. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Jones as the investigation continues.
