Pickaway County • March 5, 2025
Good morning, Pickaway County. In the world of leadership transitions, few stories are as inspiring as Jonna Motter's rise at PICCA. The lifelong county resident has completed a remarkable journey from Head Start parent to Executive Director, embodying the very mission of self-sufficiency she now champions after a decade with the organization. Her appointment marks a full-circle moment that proves talent often grows right in our own backyard.
Meanwhile, Ohio Christian University is welcoming one of its own back to the nest as alumnus Ryan D. Saunders prepares to take the presidential helm, with leadership guru John Maxwell set to keynote his March inauguration. And local hunters should take note after one unfortunate sportsman learned an expensive $130 lesson at Elmon Richards Wildlife Area – those wetlands habitat stamps aren't just decorative additions to your license, as Officer Brady Stevens was quick to point out.

Starting as a parent in the Head Start program, she rose through the ranks from nurse to Early Childhood Education Director before succeeding Becky Hammond who retired in January. A lifelong Pickaway County resident and mother of four, Motter aims to build agency capacity, strengthen community relationships, and continue PICCA's 60-year mission of helping people achieve self-sufficiency and economic stability.
🦆 Ohio hunter fined for missing wetlands stamp while waterfowl hunting. Officer Brady Stevens discovered the violation during a routine check at Elmon Richards Wildlife Area in Pickaway County. The hunter was issued a summons and paid $130 in fines and court costs to Circleville Municipal Court. The Ohio Division of Wildlife regularly conducts patrols to ensure hunters have proper documentation, including hunting licenses, Ohio Wetlands Habitat Stamps, and federal Duck Stamps.
