🔌 Energy shakeup

Pickaway County • January 21, 2025

Good morning, Pickaway County. In a plot twist that could rival any Hollywood drama, our local Ohio Power Siting Board just delivered a firm "no" to Circleville Solar's request for a project rehearing, while simultaneously giving the green light to several other energy projects across the state. It's a reminder that even in our corner of Ohio, we're part of bigger conversations about energy and development.

Meanwhile, the halls of Circleville High School are buzzing with pride as three hometown heroes prepare to take their rightful place in the school's Hall of Fame. And speaking of dramatic turns, we had quite the scene at the highway patrol post this weekend - though thankfully, what initially seemed like a serious situation turned out to be nothing more than an unfortunate false alarm. Just another eventful week in Pickaway County.

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

⚡ Ohio Power Board slams door on Circleville Solar project rehearing. The Ohio Power Siting Board rejected Circleville Solar LLC's request to revisit its earlier ruling on a proposed 70-megawatt solar installation in Pickaway County. In the same session, the board gave the green light to modify Wood County's Juliet Solar project, allowing changes to its substation and building locations. The board also approved several other significant energy projects, including AEP transmission lines in Jackson and Ross counties and Duke Energy's Butler County pipeline. A major wind farm project in Erie and Huron counties, the Emerson Creek Wind Farm, also received the board's blessing.
