Good morning, Perry County. After decades of waiting, justice has finally arrived for Crooksville's John Foster, a Vietnam veteran who returned home to find his military service improperly documented. Thanks to the Perry County Veterans Services Commission's persistent advocacy, this U.S. Marine is at last receiving the medals and recognition he earned through sacrifice and service—a powerful reminder that it's never too late to right a wrong, even one that's lingered for half a century.

Meanwhile, a carefully orchestrated leadership transition is underway at the Perry County DD Board, where Finance Director Caley Boyden has been tapped as transitional assistant superintendent. She'll work alongside David Couch during his final months after an impressive 19-year tenure at the helm. With her financial expertise and background in direct service, Boyden is positioned to maintain stability for the nearly 500 individuals and families who depend on the Board's vital services.

🎖️ Vietnam veteran finally receives medals denied for decades. John Foster, a U.S. Marine from Crooksville, returned home without his service in Vietnam properly documented on his military records. This administrative error meant he was denied the medals and recognition he rightfully earned during his tour. The Perry County Veterans Services Commission recently intervened on Foster's behalf, successfully getting his records corrected. Thanks to their efforts, this veteran is finally receiving the proper acknowledgment of his sacrifice and service after years of being overlooked.
