🌿 Green wave arrives

Perry County • April 2, 2025

Good morning, Perry County. A green wave is rolling into our region as Ethos Cannabis just opened Perry County's first-ever dispensary in New Lexington. The milestone arrival marks a significant development for the area, with the company projecting substantial economic growth and job creation as Ohio's cannabis market expands. Meanwhile, election security made headlines after state officials discovered an unauthorized voter check-in device, prompting Secretary LaRose to implement precautionary measures ahead of the May election.

In a stunning development that's sent shockwaves through local sports, coaching legend Doug Fisher has abruptly stepped away from Sheridan High School baseball just weeks before the season opener. After amassing an extraordinary 856 career victories across baseball and basketball during his three-decade tenure, Fisher cited that his "heart wasn't in it" anymore. The unexpected departure closes the book on one of Ohio's most distinguished coaching careers.

🔍 Ohio investigates unauthorized voter check-in device in Perry County. Secretary of State Frank LaRose ordered an investigation after officials discovered a tablet-style electronic pollbook that violates state election security standards. The device, which would have checked voters into polling locations, was never used in an actual election. As a precaution, LaRose directed counties using similar pollbooks to switch to paper backups for the May election. He emphasized that electronic pollbooks are never connected to voting or tabulation equipment, so Ohio's election systems remain secure.
