Good morning, Muskingum County. Fall festival season is hitting its stride across our region, with Barnesville's iconic Pumpkin Festival marking its 61st anniversary September 25-28. This beloved celebration that draws 100,000 visitors annually kicks off with the always-anticipated Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off, which has become such a phenomenon that organizers are adding a livestream segment showcasing local businesses to the 30,000+ viewers who tune in to see these mammoth gourds.
While pumpkins take center stage in Barnesville, remarkable achievements are blooming elsewhere. Marion Sutton has been named 2025 Coshoctonian for her exemplary business leadership and community involvement with Jones Metal Products. Meanwhile, Guernsey County's autumn calendar fills with everything from The Wayfarers' Appalachian stringband performance at Rix Mills Presbyterian Church to bourbon tastings at Salt Fork Lodge and a visit from Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, who'll inspire Ridgewood students with his Team Tressel Fitness Challenge.
