Good morning, Muskingum County. Nearly 250 years after his death, Revolutionary War soldier John Nash has finally received the recognition he deserves. The only Revolutionary soldier to die in what would become Coshocton County now has a memorial marker in Oak Ridge Cemetery, complete with a 21-gun salute ceremony that bridges centuries of American history. While one community honors its past, Barnesville faces modern challenges as officials grapple with motorized scooter safety following incidents involving young riders weaving through traffic.
In a sobering reminder of roadway dangers, 83-year-old Elma Robison lost her life Tuesday after crossing the center line on Tatmans Road in Perry County, resulting in a head-on collision that also hospitalized a woman and juvenile. A memorial grave marker has been placed in Oak Ridge Cemetery honoring John Nash, the only Revolutionary War soldier to die in what would become Coshocton County. Local officials including county commissioners and Mayor Mark Mills supported Larry Stahl's efforts to install the tribute. The dedication ceremony featured members of the Sons of the American Revolution, who participated with wreaths flanking the marker. The Coshocton County Honor Guard provided a 21-gun salute and presentation of colors to honor Nash's sacrifice.
💥 Elderly woman dies in head-on collision in Perry County. Elma Robison, 83, crossed the center line of Tatmans Road on Tuesday afternoon, striking a Chevrolet Traverse. The crash, which occurred around 4:23 p.m., resulted in Robison's death at a Columbus hospital. A woman and juvenile passenger in the Chevrolet were hospitalized with injuries. Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Village officials are discussing additional crosswalks and safety measures following incidents involving young people on motorized scooters. Police Chief Sirianni reported speaking with children about being visible to drivers, while council members described witnessing dangerous behavior from riders weaving through traffic. Officials also addressed other safety concerns including drivers ignoring temporary traffic lights, improper disposal of lithium batteries, and a proposal to create a four-way stop at Church and Arch streets due to increased traffic.
