Good morning, Muskingum County. The sweet sounds of Appalachian tradition will fill the air next fall as the Happy Hollow Hootenanny returns to Nelsonville for its third year. Master artists, campfire gatherings, and square dances will transform the Snow Fork Event Center into a celebration of Central Appalachian heritage during the four-day festival in September 2025. While music enthusiasts mark their calendars, healthcare in the region takes a significant leap forward with ClearSky's new 36-bed rehabilitation hospital in Lancaster.

In what might qualify as the year's most ill-conceived crime strategy, a Zanesville burglar managed to connect all the dots for law enforcement after stealing $4,000 in cigarettes. After police impounded his getaway car, Marc Allen Lucas approached the same officer who arrested his accomplice to ask about retrieving the vehicle—then left behind the impound paperwork at the crime scene. The resulting six-year prison sentence gives him plenty of time to reconsider his approach to both burglary and evidence management.
