Good morning, Muskingum County. Economic setbacks have hit close to home as the Department of Energy pulls the plug on a promised $57 million award for Zanesville's Owens-Brockway Glass factory. The substantial funding cancellation comes without detailed explanation, leaving questions about the future of glass manufacturing in our community, located just an hour from Columbus. The termination appears to be part of broader government funding reductions affecting various programs across the region.

In stark contrasts of local news, a dispute over a missing hoodie escalated to a 21-year prison sentence for Ian Michael Hayes after a horrific attack on a Zanesville woman in her own home. Meanwhile, academic excellence shines through as Ravenswood student Janis Rollins earned dual academic honors at Muskingum University, making both the Academic Merit List and Dean's List with her impressive GPA—a bright spot of achievement amid challenging headlines.
