Good morning, Muskingum County. The price of hate just got a hefty price tag in our region, as Zanesville resident Jeremy Brokaw now faces $48,000 in fines for allegedly distributing antisemitic flyers in Pittsburgh neighborhoods. The 45-year-old was identified after witnesses described his vehicle, with each of the 162 littering citations carrying a $300 penalty – a stark reminder that actions, even across state lines, can have significant consequences.

Transportation woes and growth ambitions shaped other headlines this week. A semi-truck collision on I-70 near Maple Avenue created a four-hour traffic nightmare throughout Zanesville on Tuesday morning, though thankfully the driver escaped serious injury. Meanwhile, neighboring Heath is embracing its "City of Progress" motto with impressive expansion plans, including six housing developments and the 320-acre Central Park mixed-use project, alongside municipal improvements to accommodate the anticipated population surge.

The antisemitic materials were sealed in clear bags weighted with corn kernels, allowing them to be thrown from a moving vehicle. Eyewitness descriptions of the vehicle and driver eventually led authorities to Brokaw. He now faces at least 162 traffic citations from local littering ordinances, with each violation carrying a $300 fine.

πŸ™οΈ Heath's "City of Progress" motto comes alive with ambitious expansion plans. The Ohio city is preparing for transformative growth with six proposed housing developments, including the 320-acre mixed-use Central Park project featuring homes, apartments, retail, and recreation spaces. Municipal improvements include plans for a new city hall, police station, and potentially a third fire station to serve growing areas. While Microsoft has delayed its data center plans, the city has diversified its economic base with 25 companies employing nearly 2,000 workers at the technology center.
