Good morning, Muskingum County. Innovation and friendly competition filled the air at Fort Frye High School's third annual robotics showdown, where nearly 100 students from five area schools put their engineering skills to the test. What makes this tech tournament truly special isn't just the "catapult bots" shooting hoops or drones navigating obstacle courses—it's the deliberate mixing of school teams, creating unexpected alliances between traditional rivals and fostering collaboration that extends beyond competition.

Mark your calendars for some temporary inconveniences and community highlights in the coming days. Hydrant flushing will affect Northpointe Drive from May 19-23, while Dresden Road faces a brief closure for culvert replacement. As we navigate these changes, we also remember the remarkable life of James "Jim" Godfrey, a mathematician who dedicated 30 years to Newark Air Force Base after serving in the Army—a reminder of the quiet, meaningful contributions that shape our communities.
