Good morning, Muskingum County. In a galaxy not so far away—actually, right at the Zanesville Museum of Art this Sunday—Star Wars fans will unite for a free "May the 4th" celebration. Complete with movie-accurate costumes from the 501st and Rebel Legion, visitors can enjoy art activities, scavenger hunts, and photo opportunities with their favorite characters. The event also supports local food banks, bringing together the twin forces of fandom and community service from 1-4 p.m.

Meanwhile, infrastructure decisions flow as slowly as wastewater in Barnesville, where Village Council members remain hesitant about approving a $388,000 engineering fee for their treatment plant design. As officials navigate these municipal waters, West Muskingum High School students have already dived into their own aquatic adventure, transforming their campus into a "Mystical Waters" paradise for the 2025 prom—creating magical memories captured beautifully by photographer Cathy Sorensen.

🏭 Barnesville wastewater contract stalls over $388,000 fee concerns. Village Council members remain hesitant about approving a resolution to update a 2018 wastewater treatment plant design by CTI Engineering. Mayor Jake Hershberger clarified the controversial fee would only be incurred if construction begins on the expected $10 million project. Village Administrator Roger Deal suggested possibly separating this portion from the main contract, which is primarily needed to seek grant funding. Council held a second reading of the resolution while the mayor promised to ensure everyone has the necessary information before their May 5 meeting.
