🏀 Turtle outruns king

Muskingum County • March 6, 2025

Good morning, Muskingum County. Move over, LeBron James! Ohio has a new high school basketball scoring king in Quinn "The Turtle" Kwasniak, who recently shattered the state record with an astonishing 3,245 career points. The sharpshooting phenomenon from Willoughby Cornerstone Christian has etched his name above basketball royalty on Ohio's all-time scoring list—proving that sometimes the slowest-nicknamed players move the fastest into the history books.

Meanwhile, two local institutions are expanding their community footprints in meaningful ways. The Joe Burrow Foundation is exploring a new kitchen facility in Nelsonville that could enhance food services throughout Athens County, while Yan Sun's art museum celebrates 11 years of cultural enrichment in downtown Zanesville this Friday. The Chinese-American artist and Muskingum University professor has spent three decades transforming our community canvas, one exhibition at a time—with his latest showcase featuring over 30 artists and live music.

🏀 Ohio has a new high school basketball scoring king. Quinn Kwasniak of Willoughby Cornerstone Christian recently broke the state record with 3,245 career points, surpassing Jon Diebler's previous mark of 3,208. The 6-foot-2 sharpshooter, nicknamed "The Turtle," also holds the state record for career three-pointers with 559. Kwasniak's achievement places him atop an impressive list that includes NBA stars like Luke Kennard and LeBron James, who ranks only eighth on Ohio's all-time scoring list. He'll continue his basketball career at Army next year.
