🥯 Yellow Springs bagel sensation finds new home in Dayton. Bootleg Bagels, started by Benjamin Bullock during the pandemic, will open a brick-and-mortar location at 735 Wayne Avenue this fall. What began as a small operation producing 80-100 bagels daily quickly doubled in size due to overwhelming demand. The new 2,300-square-foot bakery will offer their popular everything mix bagels alongside an expanded menu of baked goods, sandwiches, and coffee. Bullock credits his success to good recipes and technique, including the use of malt syrup in the dough and boiling bagels in a lye solution.
🧵 Dayton Arcade welcomes unique cross-stitch and book shop this summer. Nook & Needle, owned by siblings Kat Jones-Shank and Brian Jones, will offer modern and traditional cross-stitch supplies alongside curated literature. The boutique plans to host stitching meets, reading circles, and workshops beginning this fall, creating a space where "people can slow down, create, and connect." As Dayton's only dedicated cross-stitch store, it joins other incoming businesses like Smales Pretzel Bakery and Luke's Custom Cakes in the North Arcade retail marketplace.
