Good morning, Montgomery County. The housing landscape is brightening for vulnerable residents as $1.2 million flows to local nonprofits tackling affordability challenges. This investment represents more than just dollars—it's a lifeline for nearly 1,200 low-income Ohioans who need critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and pathways to homeownership in a market that's increasingly difficult to navigate.

In a remarkable sign of economic vitality, Cornerstone of Centerville North has achieved 100% occupancy with BodyBar Pilates claiming the final space in the 156-acre development. This milestone arrives as state lawmakers propose significant changes to student transportation, seeking to prohibit downtown bus hub transfers following safety concerns. The contrasting developments highlight how our community continues to grow commercially while grappling with practical challenges that affect our youngest residents.

🚌 Ohio lawmakers want to ban student transfers at downtown bus hubs. State Representatives Phil Plummer and Tom Young introduced an amendment to the state budget following the fatal shooting of a Dayton Public Schools student near the RTA transit center. The amendment would prohibit school districts from using downtown bus hubs for student transfers, forcing Dayton Public Schools to find alternatives to their current system. Mayor Jeffrey Mims Jr. supported the change, saying students should be bused directly from neighborhoods to schools rather than through downtown where they face safety risks. Dayton Public Schools has cited driver shortages and the expense of busing students to multiple charter and private schools as challenges to implementing a yellow bus system.
