Meigs County • October 8, 2025
Good morning, Meigs County. Finding a moment of calm in our busy lives just got easier. Athens KTC Buddhist Center is offering free weekly meditation sessions every Thursday until late 2025, creating an urban sanctuary where you can drop in, breathe, and reset—no experience necessary. This mindfulness oasis arrives just as the new Raising Cane's on Court Street brings a different kind of excitement to town, with Ohio University cheerleaders and the Marching 110 helping celebrate its grand opening.
Meanwhile, a cultural tradition continues as The Plains Indian Mound Festival blends entertainment with education about our region's Native American heritage. What began as an offshoot of the Paul Bunyan Show has evolved into a three-day celebration featuring vintage cars, live music, and even beauty pageants with a historical twist—contestants must learn about the mounds' significance. It's a reminder that in our corner of Ohio, history and community remain at the heart of our celebrations.
