Good morning, Meigs County. Nature's most striking drummer has made an appearance in the Mid-Ohio Valley. A vibrant red-headed woodpecker, captured in stunning detail by photographer Art Smith, reminds us of the natural beauty surrounding our communities—beauty that you're invited to share through your own wildlife snapshots. The newspaper regularly features these glimpses of local splendor, creating a visual celebration of our region's natural character.

Music and culture are taking center stage across the area this weekend. The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra brings classical masterpieces to Parkersburg on September 21st, with Maurice Cohn conducting works from Brahms to Rimsky-Korsakov. Meanwhile, Athens is buzzing with free activities—from gentle yoga sessions to Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations making traditional quesadillas. The weekend crescendos with the 5th annual Skate Jam festival, blending live music, food vendors, and skating competitions into a community celebration worth experiencing.
