Good morning, Meigs County. A Sunday afternoon squirrel hunt took an unexpected turn when a local hunter discovered human remains in the remote woods near Palestine, W.Va. State Police quickly confirmed the grim finding, with forensic teams now combing the isolated area on Courtney Ridge while the Medical Examiner works to identify the bones that included a skull, teeth, and forearm. As authorities follow leads in this developing case, the community awaits answers about these mysterious remains.

In stark contrast to this somber news, the Ohio River transformed into a vibrant waterway during the annual Parkersburg Paddle Fest, where approximately 100 kayakers from multiple states paddled to Blennerhassett Island. The weekend featured yoga, dancing, and Friday's popular Glow Paddle, where 60 boats illuminated the nighttime waters. Meanwhile, Crystal Barnes captured the region's natural beauty in a stunning sunset photo over downtown Parkersburg that's now featured in the News and Sentinel's celebration of Mid-Ohio Valley vistas.
