Good morning, Meigs County. Reinvention is in the air as Point Pleasant prepares for a potential economic boost through a $100,000 endowment from Coalfield Development. The funds would create valuable job training opportunities for those facing employment barriers in Appalachia, while other approved projects—from relocating the Farmers Market to refurbishing baseball fields—signal a community on the move. And a well-deserved congratulations to Shannon Pearson, recently named City Clerk of the Year!

The sound of fiddle strings and the sparkle of new crowns highlight our cultural calendar this week. Opal Huggins and Bryant Mohler now reign as the 2025 Meigs County Fair royalty, joined by a court of young leaders dedicated to community service. Meanwhile, at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, a decades-old tradition continues as contestants of all ages showcase their old-time fiddling skills in a competition where judges listen with their backs turned—ensuring only the purest notes determine the champions.
