Good morning, Meigs County. Justice was swift and decisive in Mason County this week, where a West Virginia couple received the maximum penalty allowed by law for child neglect. Stephen Winter and Ashley McCullough will each serve six months behind bars and pay $1,000 fines, sending what prosecutors called "a resounding message" about the community's zero-tolerance stance on endangering children.

Looking for some summer fun? The Mason County Fair arrives August 4-9 with something for everyone. Country star Sara Evans headlines a packed musical lineup, while thrill-seekers can enjoy midway rides, tractor pulls, and even a rodeo featuring bull riding and barrel racing. The fair's memorial awards program adds a heartfelt dimension, honoring community legacies through scholarships and recognition for outstanding participants in everything from livestock showing to community service.
