Good morning, Meigs County. Downtown Marietta just earned bragging rights that would make any small town proud. The prestigious Main Street America accreditation places our local revitalization efforts among the nation's elite, following a year that saw 25 free community events and an impressive 3,500 volunteer hours valued at over $90,000. From dachshund races to music festivals, this recognition confirms what locals already knew—our downtown isn't just surviving, it's thriving.

The coming days overflow with activity across the region, perfect for filling those Memorial Day weekend calendars. History buffs can celebrate Lafayette's 200th anniversary visit, water lovers can cruise aboard the Valley Gem Sternwheeler, and bargain hunters can start gathering books for Trinity Episcopal's October sale. With homeschool gatherings, teen game days, and the Historic Marietta Tour of Homes, there's something for every interest and age group as spring blossoms into summer.
