Good morning, Meigs County. The Viking conquest continues! Ripley's baseball powerhouse has claimed unanimous top honors in Class AAA with a perfect 100-point score and impressive 16-2 record. While Coach Casto navigates postponed games with characteristic determination, his squad stands tall among West Virginia's elite programs including Jefferson, Wheeling Central, and Madonna - each dominating their respective classifications with the same championship mentality.

Summer adventures await as Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park reopens Thursday, offering sternwheeler journeys from downtown Parkersburg to this historic island getaway. Visitors can craft their perfect outing with options ranging from mansion tours to horse-drawn wagon rides, while cyclists can explore on two wheels with convenient rentals. The season promises special events through October, including the atmospheric Mansion by Candlelight finale - a perfect bookend to what promises to be a memory-filled summer on this river treasure.

The school announced it will close its Division of Diversity, including the Multicultural Center, Pride Center, and Women's Center, to comply with Senate Bill 1 signed by Governor DeWine. The law, effective this summer, bans diversity efforts in higher education and puts diversity scholarships at risk. All positions associated with DEI work will be eliminated, though affected staff can apply for other university positions. Several other Ohio colleges, including Case Western Reserve University and the University of Toledo, have made similar changes to comply with the controversial legislation.
