Meigs County • February 17, 2025
Good morning, Meigs County. Talk about a tale of two headlines: While our Marauders were busy crushing dreams on the basketball court with a dazzling 67-53 victory over Nelsonville-York, local legend Kiki Angelos was busy making them come true. The YMCA's Heart of Our Community Award couldn't have found a more deserving champion, with over 200 community members gathering to celebrate the woman who's been the beating heart of Parkersburg's volunteer scene.
But not all local headlines are heartwarming - a routine traffic stop near Pomeroy turned into something straight out of "Breaking Bad" when deputies uncovered a massive drug haul. It's a stark reminder that while some of our neighbors are building community, others are trying to tear it down. Fortunately, our law enforcement's watchful eyes are keeping score.

🏀 Meigs crushes Nelsonville-York's senior night dreams in 67-53 victory. The Buckeyes kept pace with the dominant Marauders through three quarters, staying within one point at halftime. Meigs' dynamic duo of Davis and Brinager proved unstoppable, combining for an impressive 49 points and 20 rebounds. The game slipped away from Nelsonville-York in the fourth quarter as fatigue set in, leading to a decisive 15-2 Marauders run. Despite the loss, Buckeyes coach Gabriel praised his team's competitive spirit in practice and their reliance on each other.
❤️ Local hero Kiki Angelos receives prestigious YMCA community service award. The YMCA of Parkersburg honored Angelos with the 2025 Heart of Our Community Award during a special banquet at Grand Pointe Conference Center. Over 200 community members gathered to celebrate her achievements on February 13. The ceremony was attended by YMCA leadership including COO Criss Welshans and CEO Benton Walker.
🚓 Ohio traffic stop nets massive drug bust near Pomeroy. Two men were arrested after deputies discovered approximately half a pound of methamphetamine and multiple ounces of heroin and fentanyl during a vehicle search. Charles Sullivan of West Virginia and Antonio Foster of Cincinnati were taken into custody following the interdiction operation targeting high-level drug trafficking. The suspects face multiple first and second-degree felony charges for drug possession and trafficking. The bust occurred on Nye Avenue when deputies spotted criminal indicators during a routine stop of a Nissan truck.
