Meigs County • January 24, 2025
Good morning, Meigs County. Mother Nature is putting on quite a show in the Mid-Ohio Valley this week, transforming our rivers into a winter wonderland that would make even Elsa jealous. The dramatic drone footage of ice-laden waters at Point Park looks like something straight out of a National Geographic special, though most of us would prefer slightly warmer scenery right about now.
While we wait for Saturday's promised thaw, there's plenty happening indoors to keep spirits bright. The halls of Grand Central Mall will soon be alive with the sound of Belpre High School's finest musicians, and WVU employees can tick one item off their new year's to-do list with those freshly available W-2 forms. Nothing says January quite like tax prep and teen talent shows, right?

๐ WVU's 2024 W-2 forms are now available online and by mail. Current employees can access their forms through the MyHR tab at portal.wvu.edu, while paper copies will be mailed to home addresses by January 31. After February 10, employees needing duplicate copies can request them via email to tax@mail.wvu.edu with specific verification details. For security purposes, employees are advised to use WVU VPN when accessing forms from home and avoid using public computers. While WVU Tax Services can handle general W-2 questions, employees should consult professional tax preparers for personal tax advice.
โ๏ธ Rivers freeze as brutal winter grips Parkersburg, West Virginia. A dramatic drone photo captured Wednesday shows ice formations spreading across both the Ohio and Little Kanawha rivers at Point Park. The region remains locked in a deep freeze, with temperatures stubbornly staying below freezing. Local forecasts offer a glimmer of hope, predicting slight temperature increases over the coming days. The first above-freezing temperatures aren't expected until Saturday, bringing potential relief to the ice-bound waterways.
๐ต Young musicians take center stage at local mall's winter concert series. The Belpre High School band will perform this Sunday at Grand Central Mall in Vienna as part of Artsbridge's Winter Music Series. The free concert, sponsored by the City of Belpre, will run from 1:30-2:30 p.m. near the mall's south foyer entrance. While some seating is provided, attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs, and freewill donations will support Artsbridge's 14 year-round programs. The series continues through March with performances by various local school groups and bands.
