🎸 Rock paradise

Good morning, Marion County. The decibel levels are about to skyrocket as Historic Crew Stadium prepares for an epic sonic invasion. Tool, Shinedown, My Chemical Romance and over 140 other bands will transform the venue into a four-day rock paradise next May when Sonic Temple expands to five stages. The festival lineup reads like a rock hall of fame ballot, featuring legends making their final tours alongside established powerhouses and fresh talent across the rock spectrum.

While music fans mark their calendars, medical researchers at Ohio State are making critical advances against pancreatic cancer, a disease claiming increasing numbers of younger Americans. Their AI-based models offer new hope for earlier detection of this stealthy killer. On a lighter note, campus food options continue expanding with Side Piece Pies bringing its 48-hour fermented sourdough creations to Lane Avenue's Rambler complex – because nothing fuels a study session quite like artisanal pizza.

Notable performers include Megadeth and Sepultura on their farewell tours, plus Stone Temple Pilots, Ice-T, Public Enemy, and many more. Various admission passes are available now at the festival's website.

🥞 D'Angelo's death spotlights a deadly cancer on the rise. Pancreatic cancer rates are increasing in people under 55, with a grim five-year survival rate of just 13%. Unlike other cancers, there's no routine screening test for pancreatic cancer, though those with family history or specific genetic mutations may qualify for monitoring. Ohio State University researchers are developing AI-based models to better identify high-risk pancreatic cysts and improve treatment decisions. New treatments including KRAS inhibitors and tumor-treating electric fields offer hope for patients battling this aggressive disease.

🍕 New pizzeria brings sourdough slices to campus hotspot. Side Piece Pies opened Friday at the Rambler complex on Lane Avenue, joining Daydreamer Coffee and Victory Lap. The menu features signature pizzas with 48-hour fermented sourdough crust in varieties like Pepperoni, Cheese, White Slice, and Sausage & Pesto, plus buffalo wings.
