Good morning, Marion County. The calendar may only read June, but Independence Day fever is already sweeping across central Ohio. From Columbus's massive Red, White & BOOM! celebration to hometown parades and fireworks displays stretching from June 28 through July 5, the region is preparing for nearly two weeks of patriotic festivities. Pack your lawn chairs and flag-themed attire – this year's lineup promises everything from morning parades to evening pyrotechnics, with plenty of food trucks and family activities in between.

The star-spangled celebrations will shine especially bright in Hilliard, where multi-platinum country artist Gabby Barrett will headline next year's Freedom Fest with her chart-topping hits. Meanwhile, the artistic spirit of the region continues flourishing at the Columbus Arts Festival, where 39 local creators – former teachers, military veterans, and career-changers among them – showcase their journeys from everyday professionals to accomplished artists working across mediums from scratchboard to denim design.
