Marion County • May 28, 2025
Good morning, Marion County. After 45 years of serving homemade meatballs and Chicken Parmigiana that brought "comfort and joy" to generations of diners, Monte Carlo Italian Kitchen has served its final meal. The family-owned establishment, which began as Monte Carlo Ristorante on Cleveland Avenue in 1979, closed its Powell location on May 23 after decades of transitions that included ownership changes and location shifts between Westerville and Powell.
This week also brings reflections on lives well-lived in our community. Philip Hostetler, a devoted dairy farmer known for his unwavering faith and witty humor, passed away at 81 surrounded by family. Meanwhile, Jean West Henson, whose 86 years were filled with beautiful gardens, family devotion, and a fondness for Elvis, leaves behind a legacy of 63 years of marriage and a passion for container gardening that blossomed at Inniswood.
