Jackson County • October 9, 2025
Good morning, Jackson County. In the heart of Athens, a community comes together on October 12 to celebrate the musical legacy of a beloved local figure known simply as "Catfish." The Sidebar will transform into a vibrant hub of local talent for the Catfish Jamboree, offering five hours of free performances while collecting donations to inspire the next generation of musicians through the AAMP children's education program.
Meanwhile, two important meetings are on the horizon for those interested in disability advocacy, with the Athens City Commission on Disabilities gathering October 10 and 15 at the Community Center. In more sobering news, the Ohio University community is monitoring reports that associate professor Thomas Hayes was reportedly detained during a humanitarian aid mission to Gaza, with the university acknowledging the situation and seeking additional information about the circumstances.
