Good morning, Jackson County. A stark reminder of the justice system at work arrived this week as authorities apprehended 33-year-old James Paul Ruggles in connection with a brutal Lucasville murder. Scioto County detectives moved swiftly, identifying and arresting the homeless suspect within a day of discovering the victim on September 1. Sheriff Thoroughman indicates this case remains active with additional charges likely forthcoming as investigators piece together the tragic events.

While crime headlines often dominate local news, wisdom comes in unexpected packages elsewhere in today's edition. A 68-year-old grandmother shares timeless advice about protecting vulnerable family members in Dear Annie's column, while a self-described "72-Year-Old Cinderella" reminds us that self-love precedes romantic relationships. These pearls of wisdom arrive alongside reports of another serious arrest in Belpre, where police have charged a 54-year-old man with gross sexual imposition.
