Good morning, Jackson County. A stark reminder of roadway safety comes this week with the tragic passing of 95-year-old Leona Pertuset, who succumbed to injuries from a three-vehicle collision in Pike County. The accident, which occurred when her husband's Cadillac failed to yield at a State Route intersection, underscores how quickly life can change at any age. Our thoughts are with the Pertuset family during this difficult time.

While navigating our roads, be prepared for several upcoming traffic changes as Scioto County announced lane restrictions and closures starting April 28. Residents with travel plans should note that Bennett School House Road and others face restrictions due to slips. In concerning school news, authorities at Ravenswood Middle School swiftly responded Thursday when an unloaded revolver was discovered in a student's backpack, with the juvenile now in custody—a sobering situation handled with remarkable efficiency by local law enforcement.
