After three years of waiting, the Great Bend Museum finally welcomed all visitors with its new $37,000 ADA-compliant ramp. 🎵 Ravenswood bands hit perfect notes at state festival. Both the Middle School and High School bands earned prestigious "1st Division rating" from all three judges at the Region 2 WVSSAC/WVMEA Ratings Festival in Williamstown. This marks an impressive tenth consecutive year of top honors for the Ravenswood music program. Judges praised the students' exceptional musicality and skill, reflecting the dedication of performers, directors, and support staff. The community is invited to celebrate these achievements at the bands' upcoming spring concert on May 13.
♿ Ravenswood museum finally gets accessible ramp after three-year wait. The Great Bend Museum in West Virginia recently installed an ADA-compliant ramp costing $37,000, funded by a state Economic Enhancement Grant. The black railings were designed to complement existing features without overshadowing the historic building. Local resident Robbie Robinson, who hadn't been able to visit for years, can now easily access the museum's treasures, including the 1887 horse-drawn hearse. The museum also features popular riverfront webcams, allowing virtual visitors to enjoy Ohio River views day or night.
⚖️ Wood County Magistrate Court handles dozens of local cases weekly.The court processed a wide range of charges including DUIs, domestic battery, shoplifting, and drug possession between March 21-25. Many defendants were released on personal recognizance or surety bonds ranging from $500 to $300,000, with some cases being dismissed or sent to Circuit Court. Several cases resulted in guilty pleas with penalties including fines, probation, and occasional jail time. Two individuals, Natasha and Steven Black, faced serious charges of child neglect, each held on $100,000 bond.
