🎓 Ohio University's Theta Chi chapter celebrates 100 years of brotherhood. Founded in 1925 by journalism school founder George Starr Lasher, the Alpha Tau chapter is hosting a centennial celebration this May with events spanning five days. The weekend festivities will include a golf outing, local brewery visits, and a formal banquet attended by the fraternity's international president. Current chapter president Jacob Dorony expressed pride in reaching this milestone, noting that "not every fraternity or chapter gets to this point." The fraternity maintains its century-old commitment to its motto, "Extend an assisting hand," through community service and creating connections that span generations.
🙏 Beloved Wellston man remembered for his contagious humor and faith. John O. Bishop, Jr., 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 13, 2025. A 1977 Wellston High School graduate and former coal company loader known as "Bandit," Bishop was cherished for his storytelling abilities and unwavering Christian faith. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Wellston Golden Rockets fan who always made others smile with his positive attitude. Bishop leaves behind a daughter, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many friends who will gather for his funeral services on March 18.
