🌱 Seeds of growth

Jackson County • March 11, 2025

Good morning, Jackson County. At the heart of community growth, Shagbark Seed & Mill is planting seeds of opportunity with their $128,000 expansion project. This local success story isn't just adding three new jobs to our economy—it's strengthening connections between Ohio family farms and the restaurants, schools, and bakeries that serve our region. Since 2010, they've been transforming local agriculture into freshly milled heirloom products, with their latest investment promising even greater efficiency at their 5,000-square-foot facility.

While one local business flourishes, our community calendar fills with meaningful gatherings. The Athens City Commission on Disabilities invites residents to join their monthly meeting on March 19 at the Community Center, creating space for important civic engagement around disability advocacy. Meanwhile, Oak Hill residents prepare to honor the life of Paul Wallace Sr., whose legacy lives on through four generations of family. These threads of commerce, civic participation, and family ties continue to weave the rich tapestry of our regional community.
