♻️ Holmes County turns trash into treasure on May 10. The Recycling Day event at Harvest Ridge will accept household hazardous waste, appliances, and electronics free of charge. Televisions cost $2 each, while residents can drop off up to four tires at no cost with proof of residence. The initiative aims to combat illegal dumping and contamination of recycling bins. Officials remind residents that many plastic items - including bags, furniture, and toys - are not recyclable and should be disposed of through regular trash collection.
🍲 Massillon's new food pantry fights hunger and loneliness together. City Serve Food Pantry & Cafe, operated by Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, offers a grocery store-like experience where clients choose foods based on their preferences and dietary needs. Open Thursdays from 3-6pm, the pantry provides fresh produce, meat, dairy and hygiene products without requiring proof of income. Director Katie Wilson designed the service to address both food insecurity and emotional well-being, noting they've grown from serving 34 families to nearly 100 in just four weeks. The pantry also accommodates working people with evening hours and offers specialty items like gluten-free and dairy-free options rarely found at other food banks.
West Holmes Knights tamed the Carrollton Warriors 6-3 in Monday's non-league showdown, improving to 7-10 on the season.
