Good morning, Hocking County. The mercury may be rising, but that hasn't stopped the summer festivities from heating up across the region. Nelsonville Music Festival kicked off with a bang as diverse performances from local Athens band Natural Sway to headliner Waxahatchee dazzled attendees, who found respite from high temperatures in designated hammock zones. The unexpected collaboration between Katie Crutchfield and MJ Lenderman proved that sometimes the best festival moments are the unplanned ones.

While the courthouse's centennial celebration pivots to July 3 due to extreme heat, the Hocking River welcomed over 1,000 enthusiastic tubers this weekend for the 7th annual Tube-A-Rama. The three-day floating festival drew participants from age 4 to 90, combining summer fun with environmental stewardship as Adventure Pro Outdoors distributed reusable trash bags and educated visitors about river conservation. Sometimes the best community connections happen while drifting downstream.
