Good morning, Hamilton County. Talk about a photo finish! Cincinnati's passionate chili debate has finally been settled—at least for now—with Dixie Chili & Deli edging out Camp Washington by a mere seven votes among 6,500 cast. The Northern Kentucky institution, serving its signature six-way chili (with fresh garlic on top!) since 1929, continues to prove that some traditions are worth preserving, especially when they involve cinnamon-spiced meat sauce over spaghetti.
Beyond our celebrated chili wars, a concerning trend is emerging at local food pantries. NEEDS, once serving 8 families daily, now struggles to assist more than 30 each day as food prices climb and federal assistance dwindles. Meanwhile, UC's tennis program showcased its talent at the Pam Whitehead Invitational, with Bearcats players demonstrating their skills against Louisville and Marshall University in both singles and doubles competition at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.

🌶️ Cincinnati crowns its favorite mom-and-pop chili parlor by just seven votes! Dixie Chili & Deli narrowly defeated Camp Washington Chili in a nail-biting competition that gathered 6,500 votes from Cincinnati.com readers. As Northern Kentucky's first chili parlor, Dixie has been operating continuously since 1929 and boasts a unique six-way chili option featuring fresh chopped garlic on top. Beyond their signature dish, Dixie offers quirky menu items like "The Alligator" sandwich and Greek fries with house dressing across its three Kentucky locations.
🥫 Tri-State food pantry struggles to meet explosive demand. NEEDS, once serving 8 families daily, now faces 30+ families seeking assistance each day. Coordinator Maureen Flanagan warns they're overspending their budget as food prices rise and federal assistance decreases. The nonprofit relies entirely on donations from grocery stores, churches, and schools, but empty shelves remain common. Flanagan notes the crisis affects unexpected people, saying, "I've seen people that I've raised my kids with come through."
🎾 Bearcats showcase tennis talent at Pam Whitehead Invitational. The University of Cincinnati hosted the annual two-day tournament at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center on September 19-20, 2025. UC Bearcats players including Tara Kurepa, Milica Popovski, and Anastasija Arsic competed in both singles and doubles matches against teams from Louisville and Marshall University. Coach Eric Toth was spotted providing guidance to his players during set breaks, while photographers captured the intensity and teamwork displayed throughout the competition. The photo gallery showcases players serving, returning, and celebrating points during the prestigious collegiate tennis event.
