Good morning, Hamilton County. Downtown Cincinnati's skyline is telling a new story as the Model Group unveils a $90 million transformation of the Mercantile Library and Formica buildings into residential spaces. Complete with rooftop amenities, this July 9th reveal represents a bold bet on downtown's post-pandemic revival, breathing fresh life into historic structures as the urban landscape continues its evolution from office-centric to people-focused.

While one part of our community celebrates renewal, another faces profound tragedy. The sentencing of Bethoney Williams in the fentanyl-related death of her 2-year-old daughter Ah'Layla Bradley serves as a heartbreaking reminder of addiction's devastating reach. On a brighter note for the region, Hocking County residents can breathe easier as flood advisories have been lifted, though authorities still urge caution around any remaining affected roadways.

💔 Mom sentenced after toddler dies from fentanyl exposure. Bethoney Williams received a 6-9 year prison sentence for putting her 2-year-old daughter in a crib after fentanyl exposure instead of seeking help. Prosecutors said simply washing the child's hands could have saved her life, as Ah'Layla Bradley died from "extremely lethal" fentanyl concentrations. Williams, who became addicted to opioids after a hospital prescription at age 19, admitted her responsibility in court but initially misled police. The child's father wrote that the family now lives "with a hole in our hearts."
