Good morning, Hamilton County. July 4th celebrations may be losing some of their traditional spark in the coming years. Rozzi's Famous Fireworks reports that massive tariffs on Chinese imports are leading to factory closures and rising costs, creating a looming shortage that could reach its peak just in time for America's 250th birthday in 2026. While this summer's displays are largely secured, the industry is scrambling for solutions as domestic production remains unfeasible due to safety concerns and chemical restrictions.

In a disturbing development closer to home, U.S. Marshals apprehended 35-year-old Tandi Wanchu Tamang in Trenton on Wednesday. The Cincinnati man faces serious charges of kidnapping and raping a juvenile in connection with an April 6 incident. Following the arrest, which came after an ongoing investigation, Tamang was transported to Middletown Jail where he awaits trial for the alleged crimes against a minor.

💥 Summer skies face fireworks shortage due to Chinese tariffs. Rozzi's Famous Fireworks in Cincinnati reports that Trump administration's 145% tariff on Chinese goods is causing fireworks factories to shut down, adding massive costs to imports. While Rozzi's secured most inventory early for this summer, the industry faces significant challenges for 2026 – America's 250th anniversary. Despite calls for domestic production, experts say manufacturing fireworks in the US isn't feasible due to dangers, lack of infrastructure, and unavailable chemicals. The National Fireworks Association is requesting a tariff exemption to preserve this summertime tradition.
