Good morning, Hamilton County. In the wake of Tuesday's powerful storms that sent trees crashing onto homes and vehicles across the metro area, residents are assessing the damage from winds that reached a staggering 70 mph in Newtown. Fortunately, no injuries were reported despite significant property damage, including a displaced homeowner whose house took a direct hit while she was away and a car completely crushed by a fallen tree in Monroe.

Meanwhile, tensions are rising in Hyde Park where Cincinnati council's controversial development vote has sparked community outrage, with residents feeling their input has been disregarded despite organized feedback from volunteer-led community councils. On a more uplifting note, the University of Cincinnati's Day of Giving rallied nearly 3,000 donors to contribute over $1 million in just 24 hours, with substantial portions directed toward student scholarships and innovative research initiatives across campus.

🏙️ Cincinnati council ignores residents in controversial Hyde Park development vote. Councilman Mark Jeffreys sparked outrage by claiming a neighborhood council once requested a kickback from a developer, offering no evidence for this serious allegation. The accusation comes ironically close to recent corruption convictions of one-third of City Council members. Residents feel their input is being disregarded despite "vigorous, professional, and well-organized feedback" from community councils comprised of unpaid volunteers. With council elections approaching in November, the opinion writer urges voters to remember this dismissive attitude when casting their ballots.
