Good morning, Geauga County. Pizza wars are heating up our autumn calendar! The Hillcrest Rotary Club is reviving a delicious tradition on October 8, pitting local pizzerias against each other in an epic taste battle where your vote helps crown a champion. For just $15, you'll get unlimited slices while supporting initiatives that fight food insecurity and boost literacy—proving that sometimes community service can be as simple as deciding whether you're Team Thin Crust or Team Deep Dish.
Beyond pizza, our community continues to shine through service and celebration. Chardon High School students Jon Kettenun and Wesley Ziemak are turning math skills into real-world experience at the school concession stand, earning the honor of signing their names on the booth wall. Meanwhile, Family Pride marks 20 years of transforming Northeast Ohio families through innovative behavioral health services that meet clients where they are—whether at home, school, or elsewhere in the community.

🍕 Hillcrest Rotary Club pits local pizzerias in epic taste battle. The "Taste of Hillcrest Pizza Challenge" fundraiser will take place October 8 at the Mayfield Heights Community Center, where attendees can sample unlimited slices and vote for their favorite. Tickets cost $15 for adults or two for $25, with discounted rates for children. Proceeds will support the Rotary Club's community service initiatives addressing food insecurity, at-risk youth, seniors, and literacy. This family-friendly event revives the club's tradition of community gatherings that was paused during the COVID pandemic.
🤝 Chardon students turn math skills into community service at concession stand. High schoolers Jon Kettenun and Wesley Ziemak are putting their academic and social abilities to practical use by volunteering at athletic events. Under teacher Amanda Bunker's guidance, the students help operate concessions during fall sports season at Chardon High School. After successfully working several soccer games this month, the pair earned the special honor of signing their names on the concession booth wall. This hands-on experience gives students valuable real-world practice while supporting their school community.
🤗 Family Pride celebrates 20 years of healing Northeast Ohio families. The behavioral health organization, founded in 2005, has expanded from an in-home therapy program to offering comprehensive services across Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake counties. Their flexible service model reduces barriers to care by meeting clients where they are—in homes, schools, and community settings. Success stories include helping a man with MS regain independence and teaching effective parenting skills to struggling parents. Executive Director Angi Daugherty envisions creating "a fully accessible and cohesive continuum of care" while maintaining the organization's founding spirit.
