Geauga County • September 26, 2025
Good morning, Geauga County. October's crisp air brings with it the delicate balance of nature and community that defines our corner of Ohio. The Geauga Park District's controlled deer huntsβa tradition since 2007βwill temporarily close five beloved parks between November and January, a necessary program that helps maintain healthy wildlife populations throughout our natural spaces. Applications for most hunts close September 15, giving outdoor enthusiasts plenty of time to prepare for this carefully managed conservation effort.
Meanwhile, fall festivities are taking shape in spectacular fashion. Huntsburg's 55th Pumpkin Festival rolls into town October 4-5, promising everything from all-you-can-eat pancakes to impressive 1,500-pound pumpkins judged by growing legend Jerry Rose. The celebration features over 50 craft vendors, classic cars, and a parade led by Cardinal High School Band. On a reassuring note, a Solon teenager who briefly went missing has been safely located, bringing a community concern to a happy conclusion.
