🛍️ Hambden Township's new handmade market will showcase 70 local vendors. The inaugural Hambden Handmade Market debuts August 17 at the township park, running from 10am to 4pm. Visitors can browse unique offerings including natural soaps, upcycled home décor, maple products, and artisanal foods from local entrepreneurs like Chestnut-Ridge Farm and Seldom Seen Farm. 💧 Artistic rain barrels transform water conservation into beauty in Geauga County. The 2025 Geauga Soil Conservation District's Rain Barrel Yard Art Campaign features five uniquely painted 55-gallon recycled barrels that help collect rooftop runoff while celebrating local culture and natural resources. This year's masterpieces include "Dreamcatcher," "Peace," "Through the Gate," "Burrowing Buddies," and "Tender Pause by Water's Edge," all created by talented local artists. The decorated barrels are on display at the County Office Building and Fair, with online bidding available until November 5th at geaugaswcd.com. All proceeds support the district's education programs, offering a chance to own functional art while protecting water resources.
🍽️ Free meals for all students coming to Willoughby-Eastlake schools. The Ohio district announced all students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year through the federal Community Eligibility Provision program. While not fully funded federally, the district will cover remaining costs using savings from its lunch fund without tapping general funds. Officials are also partnering with a local produce market to support the initiative. The 2023-2024 school year begins August 21, with Superintendent Dr. Patrick Ward expressing excitement about the work ahead.
